Announcement from STAT: Request public use of newly reopened El Prieto Access begin immediately. To the interested citizens of Altadena and to those who support access to our sacred historic sites: On the afternoon of 1/5/06, someone opened an access port in the fence blocking public access at the top of El Prieto Road in the Meadows District of West Altadena [see photo attached]; as you may recall this fence was the subject of the initial STAT lawsuit involving the El Prieto Fire Road which STAT won in 2004. It is the position of my office that any attempt to close that access is in violation of the Court's judgment in that case, and I have so informed defendants' counsel. As a practical matter, however, the most important aspect of keeping an access open is public use. That is the point of this message. I am requesting that the public use this access starting immediately. The access forms the southern entry for the El Prieto Fire Road built in 1886 by the Brown Brothers. The El Prieto Fire Road leads to the Owen Brown Grave Site and connects to Brown Mountain Fire Road [see attached map; cul-de-sac and access indicated at "A", see also map attached as Exhibit "A" to enclosed judgment]. Simply go to the cul-de-sac at the end of County maintained El Prieto Rd., park and walk in. If the homeowners give you grief [defendants' homes are marked as "1", "2", and "10" on the map attached to the judgment], show them the judgment and walk on, but please let me know about it, as I may have to prepare a contempt action against them, and I may want your declaration. Thanks to all those who support this endeavor. Paul R. Ayers 818-760-0100 Download multimedia/ayers_stat_judgment.pdf (145k) View Locator Map in new window. Scroll to view Exhibit A below photo -
